Goat Milk Soap, Lotion and Back Pain

We can be full speed ahead one moment, and at a dead halt the next. And that occurs at a blink of an eye.

Yesterday I was heading to the store, the first time I drove my own truck in weeks. We could not get beyond the ice on the doors on my truck! As I gleefully went down the concrete steps next to the garage, what I thought was water ended up being black ice. Up in the air I went, and down I was slammed, with a concrete step edge hitting in the middle of my back right hip.

I will not go into a lot of detail, but this isn't the most fun I have ever had. I normally laugh when I fall down and "go boom," as my dear husband says, but this time I cried and remembered the cell phone in my pocket. I called for help as I rolled myself up off of the ground. I went straight to bed.

I have a store placement to prepare for this week. I will be bottling lotion and I need to get more soap on the curing rack. It will all get done. Bob cannot make soap, but he can help me package up, feed animals, and take me to the locations that I also need to visit this week. Driving is out. We both have 4x4 pick up trucks, mine is taller, and just getting in and out is very "Slow Mo" right now.

So...nope, no whining here, I will get it done, in time. At least I can sit in a chair for a short while today. My blog posts and reponses may be a little less in volume for a few days. Send me an email if you need anything. Take care!

I hope you soon mend and get back to your normal busy life. I have had several falls on the farm and thought I would never be able to get up off the ground. Like you I usually laugh but those brought tears to my eyes.

Oh my, take care of yourself. My husband grew up on roller skates and it seems like he has great balance even when slips. Me, on the other hand, I'm forever slipping and falling, not funny.

May be the wrong timing, but I awarded you with the Tree of Happiness and it asks that you list 6 things that make you happy. The logo is cute.

Peggy, I can normally ignore the pains and pings. I get up and go, refuse to treat myself otherwise. This was a different case. LOL..like you, never thought I would get up off of the ground.

Joanna, your timing is fine. It sounds fun.

Thank you.

Hugs to you sweetie and you know I'm here for you as always :-D You take care, love ya. I've had those falls before, one year my Mom and I had to crawl on our hands and knees to just get back up to the house though but good thing we invested in yak trax though. We tried going in a sled, etc. before too. We even carried a baby goat in a cooler one time!

So sorry to hear about your fall, I hope you are feeling better very soon! Ice makes me nervous to drive or walk on.

So sorry you fell. You get better real soon, now, you hear?

We never did receive the newsletter you said you had e-mailed to us....but that can wait until you are fully recovered.

Good thoughts coming your way!

Oh no! Mary, I'm so sorry you fell darlin. You didn't break anything, did you? I know I have told you how cold it's been here too this winter, but it's all a matter of perspective. Our one or two freezes are nothing compared to all your snow and ice and continuous frigid temperatures.

Hang on... Spring is coming....... the trees here are already trying to bud, it it would just stop freezing.

PS: I love that photo of soap in your blog header. Why do goats and soap turn me on so dadgum much?

Amy, love you too. This stuff gets crazy, and neither of us live on flat land. :)

Jennifer, I do not like to drive in it either. The 4x4 helps just a bit.

Alix, I am getting slightly better. It has not been fun. I am one that bounces back quickly. I slipped twice today, a pretty funny story that I will have to tell.

Robert, I never received the 2nd email from you. I will post on your blog too.

Now I am likely going to lose signal! They announced a bit ago that we might get 8" of snow before midnight tonight. Wow, ha ha ha. This was supposed to have been snow showers.

It feels good to be able to sit in front of my computer screen again. I am working on it. Thank you...love you all.

I forgot to add, the first issue of the newsletter has not been sent yet, my final goal date is 2/16/09. However, the coupons for subscribing have been sent. Except for yours, Robert. I posted regarding that problem on your blog.

Mary,

Yep, we live in a hilly area for sure! It's mostly downhill and can get pretty tricky coming up hill too!

I love your spotty black and white Nubian that was in the picture in the previous post! She's so pretty!
Hope you feel better!

Oh my goodness! Not you too!And to receive the back injury in such a bad way. Yes, do take it easy or you know, it will only get worse and you will be out of commission even longer. Maybe your husband can rub some of that wonderful lotion you make into your sore back muscles ..the fragrance alone should help, or at least improve the mood.I'll pray for you and look forward to hearing you got things done anyway, because that is what you do.

I had a pretty rough night. I feel better this morning. But the last pain pill was nearly 4:00. I am taking baby strides towards returning to normal.

Mary, hope you are on the mend. Hugs...sorry you are in pain.

Thank you, Jama.

I am working late tonight. Need to stop soon. Printing out labels, and starting to see bug eyed. :) Shifting around the seat, not too comfortable at the moment. I think I'm through for the day.

You poor thing! Once in college I was riding in a huge truck and stepped out of the door onto a big patch of black ice....all while wearing a skirt. I went down so fast! I was sore for days and I didn't hit any steps on the way down! I hope your feeling back to normal soon = (
