Newborn Goat Kids

It is difficult to get good pics of newborn goat kids.

We are up to 4 kids now, the latest born a bit after 8:00 yesterday evening.

This is our favorite buckling so far this season. He and his twin brother were sleeping outside this morning, beginning to hop at 2 days old.

Newborn kids at this age get pretty active. Hilarious when they first start hopping. They leap without letting go of the ground, and then begins the tiny bunny hops, and at a blink of an eye, so it seems, they pick up a lot of speed!

The twin brother...

Too sweet, love their floppy ears! I hear ya on taking newborn baby goat pictures, I know how that is, they jump and then get really, really close to the camera, haha but it is even hard to take adult goat pictures sometimes too especially the curious ones!

Darling! I am so jealous... not of the work, long hours, and sleepless nights (already pretty sleepless around here), but I'm jealous of all the sweet babies you get to greet and enjoy and adore. Those aren't meat goats are they? I could cry that there is such a thing in the world. (I'm such a hypocrite. I tried goat once in a true Caribbean curry and it was tasty.)

Congrats on the new kids! They are very cute! Nubian Boer crosses? (I have two and I love them, excellent dual purpose goats).

Thank you.

Unless they sell 4-H, yes, many of the bucklings are, Alix.

No, Jennifer, no nubian in these kids. Their dam is a spanish/boer cross. She and the others that we bought as kids 4 summers ago have been excellent crosses! The cross breeds often seem to make for the heartiest kids, and I agree with you, dual purpose.

Corrie, I should have about 30 boer does due, and beginning today (spread through May), I should have 11 dairy does due.

Kathy, I thought about you and your gorgeous spotted lambs when I posted the pics of the kids!
