Fruit Salad and Goat Milk Soap

I throw in a strange title now and then...but then, what does fruit salad and goat milk soap have in common?

Perhaps color? Green, orange, yellow, peach, grape (violet), pink? Could be, very well could be.

Perhaps scent? Mango, peach, citrus...and perhaps a few other lovely fruits.

Okay, so far there are similarities...so let me tell you the real story. I headed to the soap shop today, knowing my goal was to make one large batch of soap. I looked through my essential oils, no, nothing appealed to me. Looked through my fragrance oils, no, nothing appealed to me.

Then the creative juices flowed, or were they fruit juices? If it involves me, it might be fruity...but wait...we are talking soap, not a tired old brain function. :)

I have a lot of small amounts of fragrances left in bottles. Enough to scent a couple of batches of lotion, but not enough to scent soap.

Then it hit me, just like a Hawaiin punch, summer fruit salad! The pen and ink came out, plans were made (I always record beforehand so it makes it to my spreadsheets later) and then the mixing began. Let me tell you, if it had been fruit salad, it would have been devoured.

Don't ask, because I am not sure what I am going to call it. I hope it continues to look and smell as it does today. If it does, someone may want to put it out of reach of the youngsters. They will love it...and perhaps the oldsters will too. I don't know any of those, do you?

Have a good evening! I am tired and heading to a hot bath with a bar of soap that I am testing. New recipe. So far soap #1 does not pass the test, a little soft. But it does really condition the skin. Soft with no lotion needed. It may just become a "speciality" soap...just for extra skin care purposes.

Joanna, just like a lot of really good dishes, it gets better over time (4 weeks).

I like the way you get so excited about your soaps and lotions, and also am impressed with your record keeping. Fruit salad soap, sound delicious.

Kathy, I love it when I get excited too. Just like anything in life, there are the ups and downs. On the upswing is a very good feeling! Loving our work is a blessing!

The shop shelves are starting to fill up again. There may come a day when me and the insurance man will have a serious discussion. Right now I am solemnly sworn to no visitors crossing the threshold, it saves tremendously on insurance, but I am considering opening the front of the shop to customers, a small storefront, and I may even head up a class or two in cold process soap making.

No, in fact the good guy was here today, brought it back up to me again. I hope to change all of that soon! I need to!

Trish, one of those names just may get voted in...we shall see!

Alix, LOL...I can see your bathroom with a display just for AGH soaps. BTW...your soaps are still on hold, and the last batch is near curing. I'll send you an email once all 3 are available. I am talking about the soaps on hold. The Casa Hice recipe is also growing nearer.

Lynnanne...I know, I did not want to have to break that news either!

I have soaps in a store 15 minutes away but the stock in the store is slightly different from the stock on the website at this time. I am heading over there one day soon to more closely match things up. I keep a store running inventory and do not add anything "new" until stock begins to run low again. Always newer items online.

And, yes, the shampoo bars will be coming, and I will email you (and announce them here). I tried one of my new recipes on my hair. It was interesting, was not a shampoo recipe bar, but it did a nice job. The creation of shampoo bars will begin later this week...with rosemary (as you know) on the top of the list!
