We had some nifty storms last night as the sun set. Leaves and tiny branches are scattered about.
I counted the goslings this morning, all 6 are still with mom and pop, including the 7th that we did not count a few days ago. Last night I thought about the goose family, and what did I see when I looked? They seemed to be floating along on the pond. I suppose the wind really wasn't as bad on the water and downhill.
We dealt with losing Internet signal a few times (hence the photo of the mighty blue modem), along with some dust. You can look at it. I have some dust in the general area, tee hee. It was wonderful to see all 4 of the steady green lights back on!
I used my phone for certain services, company email for one. I really need to sit down with it and determine just what I can and cannot do. Plan A in case of a real power outage.
Other than the glitch with the equipment, no power outage (just flickering), I have been working on the newsletter and answering email. We ran some chores this morning...boy does that get expensive these days!

Did you know that today's Internet readers are considered scanners? Many readers do not want to read long text. Make it short, concise, and most people are happier. It is a fast paced world!

Good to see you got a signal again, glad we didn't lose our power lastnight but we did lose it on Tuesday night for no aparrent reason though, just chatted with my sister-in-law for a bit, it's about 1AM in India right now, I chatted with her via Facebook, she was going to go and try and catch some zzzzzzzzz's while the kids were sleeping.

Personally? I scan when a post is long AND boring, but most of the blogs I follow I read word for word.
I would never scan anything on Annie's Goat Hill. Your reading is too fun and informative.
Whereas my run-on sentences and long preachy posts are perfect targets for scanners! Ooops, my bad. In the future I'll try not to make a long story continuous.

I think in this day, of so much to read and see, we all tend to look for the punch line in 30 to 60 seconds. 5 minutes max for many. There is a reason, besides space and money, advertisers pay big bucks for the talented people who can convey a company's message concisely and in few words...very unlike my comment to you!
Alix and Kathy, I believe people want to scan because they have so many interests at their fingertips. They may belong to a forum. They have email to write. They want to read, research and shop. And they want to make their daily contacts (blog, Twitter, Facebook). To get it all done, as an afterthought, they pretty much have to scan.
Alix, your writing is beautiful. Do not change a thing. It is your style, and obviously you enjoy it. Your artistic skills flow into your writing. Run on, no, passionate and meaningful, yes.
Kathy, I loved what you said. I agree, big money is spent on marketing, getting the word across in very concise terms.
I published the May newsletter yesterday, for example. I find it very, very difficult to keep things that I want to shout out about to just a few words. But, even I can see the blur in the eyes when trying to read something that isn't getting to the point fast.
Glad things are back to normal around there. Hope it stays that way awhile.
Glad to hear you didn't have a full-fledged power outage. We become so dependent on internet, don't we.
Interesting tidbit about people nowadays being "scanners". I guess that's what we're forced into by ALL the information swirling around us in various medias.
